Republicans Waste Precious Time

The Republicans running for president are wasting precious time.

One hopes these candidates would use their debates and pre-primary media exposure to distinguish themselves from the failed policies of President Obama and Hillary Clinton – whose missteps in the Middle East and regarding ObamaCare merely form the tip of a rather voluminous iceberg.

Unfortunately, Republicans expend far too much effort and precious time attacking each other. Donald Trump leads the pack in this regard. He gets good ratings, yes, but he is a drag on the Republican brand. His behavior, and what it encourages among others, feeds an unattractive liberal media (a.k.a. ‘mainstream media’) narrative of Republicans as bumbling chumps who cannot get their act together.

The current Republican field is actually quite strong and deep. However, they must pivot toward opposing their true opposition, in order to secure victory in 2016. The sooner the better.

Mizzou and Paris: Perspective

At the University of Missouri last week, student protesters harassed a photographer who was attempting to document their efforts; they preened and chanted in front of other, more accommodating news cameras; and they brought cowering school administrators to their knees (the university’s president and chancellor tendered resignations) in the face of a threatened walk-out by the university’s football team.

All of this, mind you, was sparked by claims from student radicals that they feel “unsafe” on a campus over which they appear to exercise greater influence than the very administrators hired to run the place.

Also last week, across the Atlantic, radical Islamist terrorists murdered scores of innocent civilians, and injured hundreds more, in a series of coordinated attacks in Paris, France. In the Middle East, Christians are being slaughtered en masse, as are many others who dare impede ISIS’s strategic advance. Such atrocities warrant grave concern, and vigilance. Their victims have known true fear.

Witness the tumult conjured by pampered, childish, student propagandists. And witness the carnage of an evil that we must recognize and confront, for it threatens our way of life as it takes the lives of innocents. The greater concern is manifest.

Barack Obama and Ben Carson ‘Confront’ the Echo-Chamber

When questioned about his personal and political ties to unrepentant, domestic terrorists William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn (the Chicago couple that helped launch his political career), presidential candidate Barack Obama stated that at the time Ayers and Dorne hosted a political event for him in their living room, he was unaware of their well-known and unpalatable political affiliations. All the while, America’s liberal media echo-chamber (a.k.a. ‘mainstream media’) yawned and looked the other way.

When questioned about his ties to the convicted felon Tony Rezko, and the ‘sweetheart deal’ that Mr. Rezko engineered for Barack Obama and his wife Michelle to obtain their home in a Chicago suburb, Mr. Obama denied knowledge of any wrongdoing. Again, the liberal media yawned.

When questioned in 2008 about his ties to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Barrack Obama stated that, in the twenty years he spent attending Wright’s church, he never was aware that his spiritual mentor was spewing hateful, anti-American, racist rhetoric (though such rhetoric had been central enough to Wright’s message that it appeared in the DVDs his church offered for sale to the public). Once again, the liberal media downplayed an obvious scandal, as they promoted Mr. Obama’s populist promises of ‘Hope and Change.’

When questioned about his ties to ACORN, an organization that purported to be non-partisan, but was in truth heavily, liberally partisan and was investigated by the FBI for massive voter fraud toward the benefit of Barack Obama’s presidential candidacy, Mr. Obama sought to downplay his substantial ties to the group. And the liberal media yawned, yet again.

When it was revealed that one of the central characters in Barack Obama’s memoir (which may not, in fact, have been written by Mr. Obama himself, but by a ghost writer) was not even a real person, but rather an amalgam of several individuals, so as to advance the book’s narrative (a narrative that is reported to be riddled with factual inconsistencies), the liberal media overlooked such concerns, as they promoted the book, to Mr. Obama’s political and financial benefit.

It would seem that Mr. Obama has, over the years, been considerably challenged when it comes to vetting his personal and political affiliations, as well as his personal narrative. And, while the liberal media have consistently deemed it unseemly to confront Mr. Obama on such matters; they are now clamoring quite loudly over whether or not Republican candidate Dr. Ben Carson was offered a scholarship to attend West Point, back in the 1960s, as though that should determine whether or not Dr. Carson is qualified to be President of the United States.

If the liberal media (a.k.a. ‘mainstream media’) want to be regarded as journalists, they must stop behaving as propagandists. And is that really too much to ask?

Don’t Worry … You Won’t Have to Vote for Trump

Donald Trump’s current slide in the polls will continue. He has already fallen behind Dr. Ben Carson, on his way to being eclipsed by Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio.

Mr. Trump insults his opponents as a basic strategy. That is getting dull, and will only become more so as the weeks wear on. If he does not recalibrate this mistaken approach, then it’s over for him. Primary voters will weary of and jettison the guy.

When he finds himself out-polled by Carly Fiorina, he will have had enough. Such a man cannot stand being other than the center of attention. Once he no longer is … what then?

Will he drop out? Or do something unpredictable and unsettling? Thus, he intrigues.
